Diamonds AND Jade for everybody~

Diamonds have been a part of the watch making scene since the beginning, however for a long period of time held at a high premium and reserve for the most exclusive of watches/models. 💎

Today no longer the case, based off one of the rarest and most exclusive variant of the Patek 96, this HU-01 Finale Yu features diamond (lab-grown) index numerals, three baguette and eight round brilliant diamonds, each meticulously and completely hand-set, with this very special variant paired with a beautiful Jade dial! 💚

The name “Yu” or “玉” (Chinese writing) means Jade in Chinese. However, there are levels and deep knowledge behind Jade that most people do not know about, especially in the watchmaking scene.
While colour is very important, actually the most important factor is the clarity. So when it came to making our own dials using this very precious natural stone we knew we had to find one that would truly be of value to you, and not just for show/for the sake of it.
I am proud to be able to offer everybody a proper quality jade dial that is clean and one that still has its proper natural colour. The jade we use is that of Burma origin, or for Jade expert out “缅甸翡翠”.

Now after selecting the right stone slab, creating the watch dial from natural jade gemstone is a complex process that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.
Due to the hard and fragile nature of jade, the overall failure rate of the production process is extremely high. Sometimes, out of 20 pieces produced, if unlucky only 2 is available to be used.

To summarise, the first step in production is the meticulous selection of natural jade rough stones that possess unique aesthetics and characteristics. The artisans must rely on their extensive experience to repeatedly observe and identify the optimal texture positions of the stones under lighting conditions, thereby determining the best orientation for cutting the dials. This ensures that each dial showcases its unique natural texture and coloration.

The precisely cut into thin slices. Once the desired location has been selected using CNC (Computer Numerical Control) technology to perform precise cutting of the jade in a liquid environment. To reduce its weight and accommodate the layout of the dial, the jade must be cut into extremely thin slices, typically with thicknesses ranging from only 0.1 millimeters to 1.2 millimeters.

Drilling and Shaping. Processing on extremely thin slices of emerald is an extremely demanding technical task. Due to the high hardness and fragility of gemstones, special techniques such as ultrasonic drilling are required to precisely create holes on the slices for securing markings and indicators. Following this, CNC milling is used to shape them into the perfect dial design.

Reinforcement and bonding. To prevent fragile jade slices from breaking during everyday use, artisans carefully attach them to the underside of a metal (such as brass) dial plate for reinforcement. This not only preserves the complete aesthetic appeal of the jade but also prevents the color of the dial plate from affecting the visual effect through the jade.

Finally, a meticulous hand-polishing process performed by experienced craftsmen is required. This step aims to carefully remove any small chips or scratches that may have formed during the cutting and processing process, while maximizing the display of the emerald’s natural, warm luster and texture.

Of course, still keeping the same style and principle as before, no brand-name or logo, void of any unnecessary labelling! And still true to the classic and elegant calatrava style watch where anyone can afford! 🫶
We heard the feedback, took it to heart, and this time…

We understand that you love the HU-01 2025 for its “true to its roots” classic nature. Well that hasn’t changed, still retaining all the qualities and structure of the previous HU-01 2025, however this time the Finale series is, dare we say even more classic!
Now in a more compact 34mm case, though retains the original 18mm lug width, and this time featuring a solid caseback! It’s as vintage tributing as it gets haha!!! (Does come with an additional sapphire crystal caseback 😉)

True to tradition and just like the old classics, the solid caseback features perlage finishing on the inside together with the signatures, unlike the sapphire caseback where all the signatures are visible on the front. Many may find this detail (the traditional perlage finishing) unnecessary, however it is something that I find very important especially if we are truly paying proper tribute to the good old days, and same as before, real quality is important or else it wouldn’t truly be value for money right? ❤️

We recommend this really great article about the perlage finishing and why for those who wish to learn more about it!

No changes and compromise for what makes the HU-01 tick, and still using the historic manual-wind ultra-thin Swiss Peseux/ETA 7001!

Those about the Peseux/ETA 7001 and missed out learning about it during the HU-01 2025 release, we recommend this really great article by @monochromewatches below!
